David M. Jones, CPA
David M. Jones, Managing Partner and Auditing & Accounting Partner, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Bridgewater College in 1985. David began his career in a staff accounting position with Young, Nicholas, Mills & Co. of Culpeper, Virginia, now known as The Jones Group. David has over 30 years of accounting experience. Throughout his career he has provided accounting and financial services to individuals, commercial, non-profits, and government organizations. David is an active volunteer in the Culpeper community.
Richard G. Colvin, MBA
Richard G. Colvin, Partner in the firm, serves as Senior Accountant and General Practitioner. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed his Master of Business Administration degree with a specialization in Accounting from the University of Mary Washington. Richard has been with the firm since 2008. He is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA). He serves on the boards of directors and committees of numerous organizations in the Culpeper community.
Mariam K. Virag, CPA
Mariam K. Virag, Senior Manager of Taxation, joined the firm in 2015. Mariam earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from George Mason University School of Business in 1993 and has more than 20 years of experience. She spent several years in the corporate world including defense contracting and manufacturing, but most of her experience has been in public accounting as a general practitioner with an emphasis on small business tax preparation and consulting for individuals, sole proprietors, partnerships, corporations, and not-for-profit organizations. In addition, Mariam provides tax preparation and accounting services to individuals. She is a long-time resident of Culpeper County and is active in the local community.
Mark A. McCauley, CPA
Mark A. McCauley, Senior Manager of Accounting and Auditing, is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting. Mark joined The Jones Group in 2013. His areas of concentration include financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations with for-profit and not-for-profit entities. In addition, he provides business and individual consulting and tax compliance services.
Edita Sonifrank
Edita F. Sonifrank, Senior Manager of Computer Operations, is a graduate of Texas A & M University. She has been with The Jones Group since 2004. Edita has over 20 years of experience in accounting and auditing and is a QuickBooks specialist. She also has experience in taxation of individuals, partnerships, corporations, fiduciaries, and non-profits. She is the in-house resident computer guru and maintains the network, hardware, and software of the firm.
Heather L. Houchens
Heather L. Houchens, Senior Accountant, received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on Accounting from Bridgewater College. She joined the firm in 2011. Heather specializes in payroll management and accounting and tax services for fiduciaries and not-for-profit organizations. She works diligently with Commissioner of Accounts, Executors, and Trustees throughout the probate process to guarantee wills and trust agreements are being followed accordingly. Also, she has experience in taxation of individuals, partnerships, and corporations. Heather is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA). She is active in the Culpeper community.
Jennie C. Locsin
Jennie C. Locsin, Office Manager/Accountant, graduated from De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics with a major in Accounting. She obtained her CPA license in the Philippines in 1983. Jennie joined the firm in 2013 as a Junior Staff Accountant. In 2019 she accepted the administrative position of Office Manager. Jennie handles all of the administrative and personnel related matters for the firm. In addition, she takes care of the continuing professional education programs, media, and social related events. Jennie continues to prepare tax returns and accountings for Not-for-Profit entities. She is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA). Jennie is extensively involved in many community activities.
Patricia A. Inman, EA
Patricia A. Inman, Senior Tax Preparer, has been preparing taxes since 1994. Pat joined the firm in 2016. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. She became an Enrolled Agent in 1996 which authorizes her to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections, and appeals. In 2011 Pat was named Enrolled Agent of the Year by the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents. Her other professional affiliations include the National Association of Enrolled Agents, National Society of Tax Practitioners, and the Culpeper Business Women.
Alice Meyers-Paulin
Alice Meyers-Paulin, Senior Bookkeeper, has the equivalent of an Associate Degree in Maritime Transportation and Engineering Business Management from Technische University Wien in Vienna, Austria where she was born. She joined the firm in 2016. Alice came to the United States in 1990 and to Culpeper in 2001. Since 1994 she has worked as office/accounting manager and facilities security officer in the contracting industry.
Ruth Brown
Ruth Brown, Senior Bookkeeper, has an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Accounting. She has more than 20 years of accounting experience. Her areas of expertise include bookkeeping and payroll services for a broad scope of business industries. A resident of Culpeper County for many years, Ruth has been with The Jones Group since 2019.
